About Me

I was born in Kent in the south of England and then moved to Sussex, Surrey and Hampshire before my family and I moved out to Brisbane, Australia.  We lived there for five eventful years, which provided plenty of material for my novels and short stories.  I mainly write in the mystery/crime genre but I also enjoy dabbling in fantasy fiction.  I write articles and also offer Author Services in the form of proofreading, editing, beta-reading and blogging.

Married with two grown up children and now living in Derbyshire, England, I have previously worked as a railway ticket clerk, a classroom assistant, a secondhand bookshop assistant, an archivist, and a university administrator. Now I divide my time between taking pictures of my cats and proofreading/editing as a freelancer as well as writing my own books and short stories.

When not plotting how to kill people (for the books, of course!) I can often be found trawling the aisles of my local grocery stores in pursuit of everyday items with lethal potential.  Other interests include literary studies, history, cats, cooking, gardening, family tree research and chatting on Facebook.  I self-published my first eBook in the Posh Hits Trilogy, Criss Cross, in 2013 and the follow-up,  Cross Check in 2014.  The third volume of the Posh Hits Trilogy, Check Mate, appeared in February 2016. A short story is also available, The Neverending Wife, this is more of a fantasy/horror thing. In February 2016, I also published my short story collection, The Commuter’s Friend. This book contains a range of mystery fiction and works from other genres; some are very short stories, some are really short stories!

I have also written a number of stand-alone novels, some of which I hope to publish in 2015 a074nd 2016.

  1. Dear Caron,
You left an invitation to connect on Google+. Do we have a connection, besides that we both self-publish fantasy? (Which is enough, if you wish to exchange publicity opportunities, beta reads, etc.)

  2. We have lots in common too. I write Crime/Mystery and in some other genres when the mood takes me. I am writing a series of female sleuth novels – not ready yet – Ms Birdsong Investigates and I write lots of short stories and Flash Fiction too. I’ve had several stories in various anthologies. Your Miss Burkett sounds wonderful and the 1960’s is a great place to set her in. I’ve co-written a book (not crime) about the music scene in the 1960’s and it was such fun going back to that era. Felt as it were yesterday and so vivid. I am looking forward to reading about her. Good luck with everything.
